Methodology

The Bloom Method™.

The Bloom Method™ is the evidence-informed behavioural change framework behind every Moya Group programme. It brings together psychological insight, positive psychology, behaviour change science, trauma-informed care, neurodiversity-affirming practice and the relational principles of Ubuntu. At its heart is a simple belief: sustainable change becomes more likely when people feel understood, recognise their strengths, develop practical skills and are supported to turn insight into everyday action.

Method (this page)

The framework

The psychological, relational and behavioural thinking that shapes how every Moya Group programme is designed, delivered and evaluated.

Platform (separate)

The technology

The Bloom Platform™ is the digital environment that helps put the Bloom Method™ into practice. It extends the work beyond facilitated sessions by giving participants a consistent space for guided activities, journaling, personalised prompts, skills practice, reminders and progress reflection. Rather than replacing the human relationship, the platform supports continuity—helping participants remain connected to their goals and apply what they are learning in everyday life.

The platform can also support facilitators through engagement insights, wellbeing check-ins, outcome tracking and safeguarding workflows. This allows counsellors and programme teams to identify where additional support may be needed, while maintaining the human judgement and clinical oversight at the centre of the programme. The Method provides the framework; the Platform makes it accessible, responsive and continuous.

In practice

Four connected elements.

01

Human connection

Trained counsellors, psychologists or group leaders provide emotional presence, interpretation, containment, encouragement and safeguarding.

02

Structured content

A defined programme of facilitated sessions, built on assessment of needs, strengths and goals, and grounded in the Method's components.

03

Daily practice

Between sessions, participants use the Bloom Platform™ for guided activities, reflective exercises, journaling, skills practice and real-world challenges.

04

Measurable progress

Reminders, personalised prompts, ongoing support and progress feedback help participants apply what they learn in everyday life.

Design, delivery, evaluation

How the Method shapes every journey.

The Method moves beyond simply providing information or generating insight. It creates a structured journey of reflection, learning, experimentation, repetition and growth.

Although every Moya Group programme is adapted to the needs of a specific person, population or community, all are guided by the same core principles:

  • Dignity
  • Accessibility
  • Personal agency
  • Cultural relevance
  • Psychological safety
  • Measurable progress

Method + Platform + people

The counsellor holds the relationship, the programme provides the pathway, and the technology creates continuity between sessions so that insight can become sustained change.

Components

Eleven integrated components.

The Bloom Method™ draws on eleven interconnected disciplines from psychology, behaviour change science and relational practice. Each one is present in every programme, but their weight is deliberately tuned to the participant, the clinical target and the delivery model — so a youth flourishing journey, a trauma recovery pathway and a workplace wellbeing programme all share the same foundation, expressed differently.

Positive Psychology

Focuses on what is working, not only what is wrong. Strengths, meaning, hope and flourishing are treated as real clinical targets alongside symptom relief.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Helps participants notice the thoughts, beliefs and behaviours that shape how they feel, and gently work with them using structured, evidence-based tools.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

Builds psychological flexibility — the ability to make room for difficult experiences, clarify personal values and take committed action in the direction of those values.

Trauma-informed Care

Safety, choice, predictability and pacing are the baseline of every interaction, so that participants can engage without being re-exposed to what has already hurt them.

Executive Function Coaching

Practical, skills-based support for planning, initiation, focus, working memory, organisation and follow-through — the everyday scaffolding that turns intention into action.

Behaviour Change Science

Draws on habit formation, motivation and environmental design so that new behaviours become achievable, repeatable and sustainable inside real routines.

Emotional Intelligence

Develops emotional literacy, self-awareness, regulation and interpersonal skill — the capacity to understand, name and work with feelings in yourself and others.

Character Strengths

Uses the VIA framework to help participants identify and build on their signature strengths, supporting agency and identity rather than only diagnosing deficits.

Ubuntu Principles

Grounded in Ubuntu — personhood-in-relation — the Method holds that wellbeing is relational, and that growth happens in community, dignity and belonging.

Reflective Practice

Journaling, review and metacognition are taught as core skills, giving participants a repeatable way to make sense of experience and integrate learning.

Digital Coaching

Between-session prompts, reminders and guided activities on the Bloom Platform™ keep momentum going without replacing the counsellor or clinician.

Evidence

Measured, reviewed, improved.

The Bloom Method is not fixed. Facilitators use engagement and outcome data to understand how participants are progressing and to adapt support where necessary. It is continuously reviewed against programme outcomes, clinician and participant feedback, and current research across psychology, neuroscience and behavioural science.
