A Moya Group programme · Young adult wellbeing

Bloom Pathways — an Ubuntu-rooted 10-week journey for young people.

Bloom Pathways is a Moya Group programme for young adults, built on the Bloom Method™ and delivered via the Bloom Platform™. It blends developmental psychology, CBT and ACT with Ubuntu philosophy — through app modules, group circles, 1:1 counsellor sessions and Kira, an AI clinical companion built for young South Africans.

Five pillars

What Bloom develops.

Every week strengthens one of five pillars — a whole-person view of flourishing, from inner life to contribution in community.

Self

Identity, values, VIA character strengths and self-compassion.

Mind & Body

Emotional intelligence, regulation, sleep and everyday wellbeing.

Relationships

Boundaries, communication, Ubuntu, family and peers.

Future

SMART goals, decision-making, career direction and money basics.

Contribution

Leadership, service, civic and community impact.

What each week includes

A blended, measurable programme.

Bloom is a structured 10-week journey delivered through a mobile-friendly app, supported by trained facilitators and qualified clinicians. It's designed to work at scale without losing the human relationship that makes real change possible.

Theory & video

Short, plain-language intros to each week's idea.

App activities

Interactive exercises, journaling and assessments (VIA, PHQ-9, GAD-7 where appropriate).

Group session

A facilitated peer circle that turns insight into shared momentum.

1:1 counsellor session

Clinical depth and personal application with a qualified counsellor.

Kira AI companion

Daily reflection, encouragement and a crisis-aware safety valve — Kira never replaces a counsellor.

Wellbeing dashboard

Weekly check-ins, PHQ-9 and GAD-7 trends, engagement and optional biometric data.

Roadmap

Three apps, one mission.

Bloom Pathways is live for young adults today. Two age-adapted siblings are on the roadmap so the same Ubuntu-rooted developmental model can meet young people earlier.

Now

Bloom Pathways (18–25)

Flagship programme, live — emerging adulthood, career, financial and identity tasks.

Next

Bloom Teens (14–17)

Age-adapted modules, guardian consent and moderated community.

Then

Bloom Juniors (10–13)

A playful 'Buddy' companion, sticker rewards and full parent visibility.

Who Bloom is for

Partners, clinicians, funders and families.

Bloom is designed to plug into the systems that already surround young people.

Schools & youth NGOs

Running life-skills or wellbeing programmes at scale.

Counsellors & clinics

Seeking a structured between-session companion for clients.

Funders & CSI partners

Investing in youth mental health in South Africa.

Parents & guardians

Looking for guided developmental support for young people.

Safeguarding & POPIA

Safety and data care, built in from the start.

Bloom often involves sensitive wellbeing data and young people who may be vulnerable, so the programme is built to POPIA standards from day one — we collect only what we need, protect it carefully, ask for clear consent, and take extra care with health information and anything involving minors.

Clinically, we avoid diagnostic labels, have clear self-harm escalation pathways and keep firm boundaries around what an app should and shouldn't do. When a young person needs a person, Kira hands off to one — she never stands in for a counsellor.

Considering a Bloom pilot?

We're looking for pilot partners for the 14–17 and 10–13 apps, counsellors to join the facilitator network, and funding to help us finish the adolescent apps and run a proper outcomes study.
